       The Atari 2800 controller is an interesting beast - it's a joystick and a paddle in one! Internally it uses a potentiometer for the paddle part and metal spring contacts for the joystick part (basically the same as the classic Atari CX-40). The 2800 console was the Japanese version of the 2600 and was later released in the US as the Sears Video Arcade II.
