Reviews on the mac mini are coming out and the ssd is soldered to the board. Boo.The bandwidth on the USB-C ports is fast enough that a drive plugged into it will be plenty fast though. My hackintosh is great and all, but I'd love to use 1st party hardware.

current thought is: mac mini for my main personal machine and keep this 2012 pre-retina macbook pro as a mobile computer for forever. If the 2012 dies replace it with a used 2015-ish macbook pro.

There's someone on CL posting terribly composed photos for 1 dollar and it's the most bizarre thing. This one in particular is SO weird: https://annarbor.craigslist.org/pho/d/ann-arbor-voters-create/6747010189.html

@sstrudeau oh nextdoor...you are very good for selling/borrowing random crap to neighbors and that's it.

@sstrudeau welp, you made me go to nextdoor and now i'm deeply suspicious of my neighbors ability to reason again.

@tmy ha, most of them do these days (or can if you need it, which honestly there are a lot of times you actually do need to know this information).

Me before spending two and a half hours working on hanging a new door: “this’ll only take like a half hour.”Friends, I am not done yet.

Lawn Thoughts: the underlying problem with lawn equipment is that we've been sold on the idea that lawns should be "perfectly manicured without any stray leaves". Dismantle that and a number of other problems are no longer problems. Mulch your leaves, plant clover instead of grass, and have a garden instead.

@hypomodern this is the right and correct way to live! I grew up with a "you mow every week no matter what" mentality. only this last year did I learn that you only need to mow when it needs it. it's been a big shift.

RE: sharing passwords. In 2019 is there a way to quickly share a password with someone in a secure way without setting up a whole service or making a phone call?(I'll also say that if you don't trust email for this I also wouldn't trust a form setup by IT. Chances are VERY good that form is sending someone an email notification. Also, by using a form you might have just put your email address and password into a database.Passwords are terrible.)
