@stux I think some folks are just scared to see Meta take away this oasis. I know the thought makes me nervous. But I trust you in as much as I know you and I trust the resilience of the Mastodon project.I also trust that Meta will likely get bored with this project and abandon it for easy money selling propaganda. 😁

@stux Yeah, I hadn't thought about how that might flood a feed. It's a real bummer. Of course it'd be better to actually be on an ActivityPub platform but since Threads can talk to the Fediverse, it's a convenient way to get news that's not a repost bot.But, yeah, the bot situation gave me pause. Maybe it's just all gone except BlueSky and Mastodon?

@stux, it's silly, but I can't tell you how disappointing this is. I really wanted to believe, somehow, federation with Threads could only be good. A way, ultimately, to engage in pulling people to Mastodon. I feel less certain of that now.
