       Wow, SQLite is prototyping a new backend that allows for efficient concurrent write transactions: https://sqlite.org/hctree/doc/hctree/doc/hctree/index.html

       This Saturday SHIZO comes to #Dusseldorf. You have a chance to experience what it means to be a prominent opponent of #Putin in #Russia. SHIZO is not just a living example of cruelty towards the opposition, but in a sense a symbol of dehumanization in repressive states. #FreeNavalny

       SHIZO was opened yesterday in the presence of more than 100 people, as well as Kira Yarmysh (the spokeswoman of team #Navalny), Zanda Martens (SPD), Lars Clarenbach (FDP) and Russian violinist Mikhail Nodelman. The speakers called for release of Alexey Navalny and all political prisoners in Russia and Belarus.#Dusseldorf #FreeNavalny #Putin #Russia #FreiesRusslandNRW

       Inside SHIZO. This is a precise replica of a cage, in which Alexey #Navalny has already spent more than 100 days of his time in jail. Missing from the picture are only a book (only one!), a toothbrush and a pen. "Abandon all hope, ye who enter here", but Alexey still retains hope, and so do we.SHIZO will be available to public in #Dusseldorf for a week. You can experience what it means to be a political prisoner in a repressive state.#FreeNavalny #Putin #Russia #FreiesRusslandNRW

       @Czarnobajewka1) High, although not guaranteed (exactly like with any future or present Russian ruler). It's hard to make promises from a jail.2) I hope he apologizes for his offensive words (if not already).3) Nothing you mention has anything to do with democracy. Returning of Crimea is *less* likely under a true democrat - it will be hard to get a majority vote for that.

       @Czarnobajewka you're welcome to use a dictionary to look up what democracy means. "Being good" is not a part of the definition. Yes, a democratic politician can be an imperialist, there are enough of such in the west as well. Sad but true.Btw #Navalny has clearly spoken for returning to 1991 borders. If you don't know that, check your sources.

       @Czarnobajewka Chechnya is such a complex matter that I don't even know how to explain it without writing a long essay. Shortly:1) It's in many senses independent. A vassal kingdom within the borders of Russia.2) It is under complete control by people who are very far from western values (but very close to Putin's money).3) Chechnya and Crimea are Putin's symbolic projects. Many opposition politicians (if not all of them) don't give a damn if they stay or leave.

       @louis It's not him discouraging the users from picking an instance. It's the fact that it's actually hard combined with the fact that most users don't care that much.Take me, a pretty technically advanced person who still ended up on the default instance after getting tired of choosing. And then a few friends simply went where I went.

       @dekkzz76 @louis just compare him with Hitler already, don't restraint yourself.There are good reasons to disagree with him, but what you're doing is gross.

       @wauz @sixtus @haraldboettger Boris Nemcov hat auch vor dem Krieg gewarnt, und er wurde 2015 getötet. In Dezember wusste das jedermann mit Zugang zu Information schon.

       #Germany bubble: any recommendations for a mobile provider/tariff for a tablet? The use case is watching YouTube when traveling. Calls/SMS do not matter. Boosts appreciated.

       Thanks to a Fedora change proposal, I've just learned that #systemd has a nice set of sandboxing features for services: https://www.freedesktop.org/software/systemd/man/latest/systemd.exec.html#Sandboxing

       My teammate just spent a couple of days to discover a #golang idiosyncrasy: the := operator will shadow variables from outer scopes. E.g. this code will print true, then false:var value bool{value, str := return_bool_and_hello()fmt.Printf("value is %+v, string is %s\n", value, str)}fmt.Printf("value is %+v\n", value)https://go.dev/ref/spec#Short_variable_declarations is not clear on this behavior, but https://go.dev/doc/effective_go#redeclaration does mention it.I think I like the := operator less now.

       It also means that these functions return different values:func get_value() (value bool) {value, str := return_bool_and_hello()fmt.Printf("value is %+v, string is %s\n", value, str)return}andfunc get_value() (value bool) {{value, str := return_bool_and_hello()fmt.Printf("value is %+v, string is %s\n", value, str)}return}#golang
