@Radical_EgoCom @changemewtf @liquor_american in america, for example, all white people are racist by virtue of socialization, and have to consciously unlearn inculcated bigotry; it's incredibly difficult to talk about because the last thing anyone decent wants to be is racist, but we have to be able to talk about it to unseat it. rejecting overt racism is easy, like, it's easy to be like "of course X race isn't inferior to Y race" but plenty of internalized unconscious racism still makes its way into perception and behavior, a lot of which is easy not to notice from a white and uninformed perspective. non-white people absorb the same stuff but it's a different experience given their different position at the ends of privilege. i think this is really less of a conversation to be had on fedi than a "time 2 do some reading" situation
