@lukeI mean, his example site also lacks any kind of navigation so that's not a fair comparison. Granted, any decent nav (even nice looking css ones) shouldn't add much more bloat but in my experience nav is usually a good chunk of loading because a lot of sites pull external libraries to make it work or are heavily scripted for effects.

@lukeAlso, telling these sites not to use ads and trackers is pointless because that is their revenue source and pretty much the sole reason they exist. A lot of the other functions (comments, suggested articles, etc.) are also designed to keep you on the site longer to expose you to more of their ads.

@apps why is "Information below may reflect the user's profile incompletely" a thing when I go to someone's mastodon profile that I don't follow? Why can't the app just load all of the users public posts?I'm really not trying to criticize, I just want to understand. I know Tusky does the same thing. It drives me nuts and it seems odd to me that the app can't request all of the posts from whatever instance a user is on.

@mdhughesI haven't even had access to a midi file in so long. I remember being a kid and downloading Sailor Moon midis. That was the shit. I had this cool screensaver with the scouts on clouds and it played the best midi I ever heard of Tuxedo Mirage. To this day I like that midi version better than the original.

I love #mastodon and the #fediverse in general but one thing that would be nice is to be able to, instead of having to sign up with a separate account on another instance of another service, it'd be nice to be able to use oauth or something similar to be able to have a presence on that instance without having an entirely separate account.

Ideally this would work as follows:* Auth with your fedi-account from another instance (must not be blocked)* Be able to view the instance as a native user (local timelines, full profile views, etc.)* Apps can add support by allowing you to view content from both instances without having to switch profiles* Have your main profile show up in full on the other instances (either through caching or some form of internet symlinking)

Or to tie your Mastodon with a Mobilizon. Or just one masto instance to another.It just would be nice to have one central identity on fedi that can extend to separate instances.
