@evilSummed up as "I wouldn't want to fuck you, but I'd take all your money and mooch off of you and take half of you want out."It's a whole different feel when you approach it from that way.

@cjdThat grain would cause some really nasty diabetic complications. My blood sugar would skyrocket to 400+ mg/dL.The meat doesn't.

Sigh. Tough post. #Fedihired So I found that #DOGE is currently in the org I work at. Ive confirmed from 2 colleagues. They're going after contractors first, since we have mostly no protections.I've been looking since Nov 6, but now things are getting down to the wire. I'm a senior cloud systems engineer. Current is administering/developing #ArcGIS #GIS . Previously was systems engineer with greenfielding and putting together multiple ATO's. Before that, was systems engineer at a NOC.I highly prefer #remote but can travel 60 miles around #bloomingtonIN

So, uh #bloomscrolling?I went out back, and looked to forage #morel mushrooms. I found none. But it wasn't a bummer!Instead I found 10s of thousands of Twinleafs and trilliums! Twin leaves are https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeffersonia and are very uncommon. Most patches are 20 or so plants. Our patch is far as the eye can see!

Also @futurebird you might be interested too... Twin leaves are ant pollinated, so it also tells me we also have a great ant population as well.

@dnkboston @DenOfEarth @pluralistic Ive actually said in our group "Im not working over the agreed payrate and hours, other than in a real crisis situation. If this is a crisis due to mismanagement, I will not assist. I do not work for free, and your company would not expect to do work for free either."I've never been retaliated against in saying that. I've also been very forthright with "I found x problems, and I propose a triage/solution".

@stux I'll use it to do what amounts to an interactive web search, and to make a thought-web of a subject I don't have a thorough understanding of.I treat it like Wikipedia with a possible contentious streak. Ask, and verify.Because of my hybrid solution, I've been able to determine narrow terminology that I wasn't aware of. And was able to properly research with exact terms, rather than converse with something that potentially hallucinates more and more.And... They're also good about getting behind paywalls 😂

@futurebird @Phosphenes @jrconlin No, theres a bigger trend. This trend is the perception that voting doesn't work; peaceful protests get you shot at with less-than-lethal bullets, denouncing genocide gets you harassed and cancelled by extremist Zionists, etc etc etc.Now those perceptions appear true.It was IU Bloomington campus that had snipers on the roof for a anti-genocide peaceful protest in a designated protest space (Dunn Meadow). And thats just local. All of the peaceful outputs have been made null and void. Or worse yet, the "authorities" respond with mass violence, of which if law was applied to them, grossly exceeded force.Know what happens when all the peaceful options are gone? The non-peaceful ones come out. And I think thats what we're seeing, is this slow eventual societal understanding that shooting and killing people IS the only way to advance policy and social discourse. And that's a terrible terrible place to be.Sure, Charlie Kirk ran https://www.professorwatchlist.org/, an academic hitlist. Even had 1 in my area flee the country to evade harassment and assault. But again, he was also using violence, 1 step removed. He created the list, in the hopes that those who agreed with his message would 'connect the dots and finish what he nudged them toward'.But long form - social discourse and peaceful methodologies have basically been rendered useless. And that means that violence does indeed work to change things... Usually for the worse. This country, I think, is heading towards our second civil war, one shot at a time.

@futurebird #2 isn't entirely true.I'm a pagan, and follow the solstices and equinoxes. Those are celestial events that define the shortest day, longest day, and equal day/night across the whole earth. The solstices and equinoxes predate, well, biologic matter.

@futurebird Scientifically speaking, thats false. And all life, from plants to animals do respond to night, dawn, day, dusk.To think humans are exempt is ignoring our place as fellow animals on this planet.
