       #ttrpg I had a playtester that refused to really engage with anything. They said "a reasonable person would run away and leave town". They're not wrong, but how do you deal with this as a GM?

       @jollysea I hang out in a few discords that are filled with rando indie ttrpg devs. This is a frequent topic. Personally, I absolutely hate 2d6. It's just not intuitive for my brain and there's a big delay between rolling and knowing whether I did good or bad.

       @mrundkvist I've certainly come to the point that mechanics have to be justified. I've got a simple system that I consider to be rules-minimal. So, if you're going to add a rule, it better model and enable something awesome, that isn't possible with less.

       @mrundkvist "Simulation" is code for "lazy". Game design is all about making abstractions both satisfying and fun. Calling it simulation is just refusing to do the work.
