I would like for my home feed here to be more friendly chat and intellectual exchange and less political outrage. I’m outraged too, but I resent the way the troll-style of contemporary politics hoovers up the whole discourse. Also: that means trolling wins, since it is basically used to distract us all from sharpening our guillotines.

@ParadeGrotesque I know what you’re saying. But I think my pov here is that I want to use this site for something else. Unlike other social media, most of the people I’m connected to here are not people I know at all irl, so some adjustment of my home feed seems normal. I’m not telling anyone to change, I’m just choosing who to hang out with.

I am reasonably good at the almost-athletic part of being an ass dean, which is the ability to do a lot of things all the time without losing the thread, and I think I communicate pretty well with my constituents and help set an overall tone that is mostly healthy.
