@clive Speaking as a retired teacher, "the educational system" has been responding the relentless pressure of testing, testing, testing, and more testing that evaluates reading on the ability to pick apart a text, paragraph by paragraph. If the public could see the kind of questions 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders are required to answer, one after the other after the other, during days of testing, they would be appalled. The amount of money that goes to the testing companies....also appalling.

@WolvenThis happened to me. No more student-side dreams, but the new version was even more stressful. Been retired for a few years, and the dreams still show up occasionally, in a 3rd iteration of going back as a substitute teacher and finding out the classroom has no furniture and I have to set it up in the 30 minutes before kids arrive, or wandering around the school trying to find the room I'm assigned to, or wandering around the playground (in the dark!) looking for where the kids have lined up. What's surprises me is that none of the nightmares ever draw on the many actual stresses that happened in teaching.
