Seeing some people on Twitter saying Fox made a business decision to pay 3/4 of $1 billion to Dominion because that was cheaper than the cost of litigation....Every lawyer wishes that were true.

Given the limited defense offered by Trump, I would ordinarily be shocked if the jury found him not liable. But, when it comes to sexual violence, our society does not have a great track record. Either way, the announcement should be in a few minutes.

The case was pretty straightforward and simple (in terms of the actual issues to decide). But taking less than 3 hours in such a high-profile case is surprising.

@simon pyproject.toml has changed everything. It also makes it much easier to add other development packages for larger projects. FWIW, I'm in the midst of trying to simplify my workflow when I need more than just a quick pyproject.toml. To add docs, CI, and testing to the mix, I'm finding the best combo to be pdm, mkdocs, and GitHub Actions. Moving away from Sphinx and, to a lesser degree, Poetry, has been similarly revelatory.

Law Prof Jonathan Turley continues to be dishonest and disingenuous in his statements about the most recent Trump indictment. He contends that the government charged Trump with making "knowingly false statements," which is (knowingly) false statement by Turley. The phrase appears 5 times in the indictment. Each time, it is part of the description of facts. The federal false statements law is 18 U.S.C. ยง 1001, notably not in the indictment. The free speech argument is legally frivolous.

If Turley's view of free speech were applied widely, conspiracy doctrine, perhaps the most important aspect of modern criminal law, would be gutted. The key element of every conspiracy charge is an agreement. Those agreements invariably involve communication (speech). Indictments for conspiracy require a discussion of the speech that formed those agreements. And no court has held that these communications are protected by the First Amendment. Turley's argument is embarrassing.

I found our cat here this morning, where he apparently slept last night, and took this photo. #Caturday

Elon let thousands of actual Nazis back onto Xitter under his selective, BS "free speech" rationale. And now, he is taking a poll to see if the Anti-freakin'-Defamation League should be kicked off of Twitter?!?! Worse still, those thousands of Nazis will determine if the ADL stays or goes b/c they were the constituency most willing to pay for blue-check marks?!?

Bonus points for Elon's favorite token grifter "liberal" (the Krassenstein bros. are literally the only liberals he follows) chiming in to entirely miss the point while making matters worse. Twitter is racist, garbage Gab 2.0 and I wish all my friends and colleagues would leave it behind (they are the only reason I still visit that bigoted dumpster fire).

When Xitter loses even more advertisers, I'm sure Elon will continue to blame "the Jews."
