I don’t know how this “unified theory of autism” (“a far more comprehensive explanation for autistic cognition than any of its competitors”) is seen by autistic people, but the description of monotropism here rang very true for me: “In a nutshell, monotropism is the tendency for our interests to pull us in more strongly than most people.” I mean, welcome to my entire life, from childhood until now: a succession of interests for which both the topic and intensity are seen as “a bit weird” by those around me.
