       @natania I've been off social media for a couple years and off Twitter for longer than that and... I gotta say, I don't remember it fondly. I remember it encouraged my worst attention-seeking qualities, for starters. Here, I feel encouraged to connect with people I actually like.

       @Wolven Wow. That's great. Talking about "model collapse" seems so technical, but audio feedback loops are familiar to people and the analogy (in particular the property of amplifying noise until the output is incoherent and useless) is really strong.

       @Wolven And everyone at OpenAI seemed pretty content to tolerate literal ritual worship of AGI until Sutskever turned on Sam Altman.They're leaking it to make him look foolish now, but I see no evidence any of them were concerned about this a week ago.

       @Wolven For sure. I think the shamelessness with which they openly and proudly talk about clearly metaphysical ideas like superintelligence, singularity, and alignment maybe caused me to underestimate how much more they were not trumpeting openly.
