So what we know from this article is, a US private has probably defected to the #DPRK. Like most US defectors to the DPRK, he was depressed. But he was also charged with assault for kicking a cop car and swearing at the fuzz.Now the DPRK has him, and we can be fairly sure they'll treat him well — as a "propaganda tool" if you like, but still well.Honestly looking forward to seeing how this plays out. @veirling @AnarchoNinaWrites The propaganda is very real. So many of these people are anti-worker, anti-socialist because they've never heard anything else. Not at length. We're going to be fighting it no matter where we are. This is probably the best space for it, online or off, that isn't an echo chamber. As silly as it may seem to say this about the internet, it is important to keep talking, don't sit down, and normalize these talking points.

Imagine you buy a house. You want to paint it over, only to find that no paint will hold. There's ad posters on your walls that you can't take off. The company that built the house tells you that it's because it's their house, it's proprietary. There's cameras in every room; you're told it's to better understand how you live in your house, and maybe to sell data to politicians. You want to move, but the housing company says every other house SUCKS.... Why would you stay? Switch to #Linux.

@yogthos Xi states in his book that there is no question that the market must be the driving force of the Chinese economy. That should be enough for anyone to disbelieve that China is interested in building socialism in anything but appearance, even without examining their role in Africa and the Middle East. Still better than the States, and they may be the only ones who can save the world from climate change, but I'd stop at celebrating their idea of socialism.
