I just learned about "Bad Apple". It's a more than 10 years old black and white animation that people have been playing back on any kind of hardware or medium (the original song was a chiptune from 1998). The animation is on youtube with 81 million views and there are C64 and tesla coil versions of it. But the most amazing one is this #StopMotion animation that's more than just 6000 printed frames: it also relies on camera pans on the animator's desk.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=240Vq6tIxio#BadApple

With #OCIO v2 it feels like I need to learn OCIO all over again. So many new features for color config files. At the same time we're seeing more and more shows that are using #ACES ap0 as a color space for deliveries but are not using the rest of the ACES workflow (display transforms). Instead they use a traditional 3D LUT applied in ARRI's LogC or Log3G10.Since OCIO went all in on ACES the default configs that ship with e.g. Nuke are not a good fit. So it's "back to school" for me đȘ

Oh, #ChronoTrigger is trending because it came out 30 years ago.I remember playing it on an SNES emulator long after its release (and long after I've gotten rid of my actual SNES). I have great memories of the game but I haven't played enough JRPGs to compare it to others. Never played any #FinalFantasy games for example. But I guess I made a good pick with Chrono Trigger. It seems to be regarded as one of the best games of its kind.

@foone Wow, thatâs not only a blast from my video gaming past⊠itâs also such an interesting piece of information. Just yesterday Iâve talked to a colleague about the âPrivateerâ game from that era :-)

@foone wow I remember this game. I'm wondering what the original programmers would feel when they watch this video about the code they wrote decades ago, fighting space constraints that don't exist anymore nowadays.

#FreeSoftwareAdventA piece of free software I rely on at work is #Dokuwiki: https://www.dokuwiki.orgWe run it on a simple Apache & PHP VM. No need for a database, connects to LDAP for user accounts (optional). It's old-school but it also has a wysiwyg (what you see is what you get) plugin for editing pages - which doesn't support all formatting features (pending more funding from interested users). But it's there so the non-techy people can clicky-click their headlines and tables.
