@friendlymike BeetleJus and vigilance https://www.gurneys.com/product/beetlejus-for-ornamental-and-vegetable-pests I've been pretty vigilant with spraying the beetlejus at the first sign. And it must be done every few days. It's, quite frankly, a pain in the arse, but it doesn't seem to hurt pollinators like systemic treatments would, so I suck it up. There are significantly fewer beetles this year.

@LinuxGamer I stumbled on a conversation here this week where someone tried to convince someone else not to feel guilty about using AI. Apparently, AI is a tool, just like an artist uses tools to create. So if you can't draw or paint, you have to use the tools you can use: AI.I had to close my computer. I wanted to ask if they paid for the art their AI used. I paid for my brushes and paint and other tools. Or could I go to their home and take something I don't have simply because I want it?🤬

We have a kid who is #ActuallyAutistic, so concerts were just never something we thought about, what with the loud and strobes and flames and unknowns. Then I noticed him sing every word to his little sister's #TaylorSwiftEras setlist playlist. Since I'd seen the show, I could warn him when things would get particularly flashy or flame-y, and he knew what song was coming when. The best of both worlds: live music without the surprises we all love. Besides, who needs college, right? 1/5

I got online and found tickets in the accessible section, meaning we'd have no one in front or behind us. Perfect for a kid with sensory issues. The universe was giving me a sign again. So, with his permission, I bought the four of us tickets to last night's show in our hometown of #Denver (CO, US).#Minneapolis (MN, US) I love you, but, dang, concerts should always be outdoors! Oh, but our son. Our son rolled his eyes and stood rooted like a tree when I pulled him out of his seat. Then during #LongLive he kind of leaned all 6' of him against me and swayed in time to the music. It's as close to dancing as I've ever seen of him. He laughed at his sister and me screaming/silly dancing to #PictureToBurn, which he hates and we love. He liked the fireworks. And he loved the flashing bracelets—he's taken one apart and googled how they worked. 4/5

In the end, Denver made #TaylorSwift cry after #ChampagneProblems with our thunderous and sustained cheering. This morning he told us he'd stayed up several hours last night replaying the concert in his head. And it's all he's talked about today. I'm counting it a success! Will he see another stadium show? Maybe. Maybe not. But if you're only going to see one, this was the one to see. So, again, thank you, #TaylorSwift. @anderspuck @grammargirl It is absolutely doable. One-way masking with well-fitting N95s has kept my family of four entirely covid-free. My kids go to middle and high school in person. We have traveled by plane multiple times in the last year. I admit we have given up eating in restaurants. And as case numbers go up, we socialize outside. But the masking is why we've stayed covid-free.

@anderspuck @grammargirl Seriously? Ask science. It's necessary until we can cure or negate the risk of long covid. Unless we've suddenly become okay with risking children's long-term health? Because we've learned that far from "kids don't get covid," kids have the same risk of catching covid and of developing long covid as adults do.And, really, it's just a mask. No one is asking you to lockdown. Or to change your life beyond wearing a mask indoors in public crowds. What's the big deal?

@anderspuck @grammargirl I'm sorry. From friends, my understanding is that it sucks.If you're wearing a well-fit N95 mask (that's the key), it's significantly harder to get. We traveled with my son's high school team to an indoor competition in Texas with 55k people. We masked indoors. 90%+ of our team tested positive. We didn't.My daughter and I saw Taylor Swift indoors with 64k people screaming people. We masked, sang, and didn't get covid. It's doable. We haven't been sick in 3+ years.

Today, I begged a female GP to take me on as a patient and also got my #Rheumatology blood work done. In speaking with the nurse, finding a female GP in the entire city is impossible because healthcare workers are fleeing the profession in droves "after the pandemic." (Let's ignore that #CovidIsNotOver) It tracks. Our family lost four providers this year.It was nice that EVERYONE I encountered, from the Nurse to the GP to the Pharmacist to the Phlebotomist, was masked. #CovidCautious #Unicorn
