@blossomlilija@jorts.horse I always thought technology should serve the people, and this is one way I think technology can do so. Bureaucracy is and always will be tedious, so the least time we can spend doing it the better. However there are many ways in which you can do bureaucracy, both in paper and digitally, and some ways of doing it are absolutely abhorrent, and others are actually surprisingly good... I think EID is actually a good thing as long as we focus on putting it where it needs to be and not where it doesn't need to be (and I am pushing for doing this as much as I'm able from my day job).

@blossomlilija@jorts.horse eID is not mass surveilance, eID in its roots (just eID by itself) is an authentication system. Where you put that system and what you do with it is up to you, and it can be used to surveil, sure, but by itself it's just a way to log-in, same way you could use GPG to sign a message, all it says is "I am this person and I said this". There are many places where you should never be forced to say "I am this person", but I think you should be able to say "I am this person" in many places where it makes sense (see previous examples)

Again, eID can be used for many useful things, I envision this being used so you can quickly make a doctor's appointment from your phone and not need to call the hospital. Many disabled people have problems with calling, either it gives them anxiety or hell, maybe their disability is they literally can't talk or hear. I think a good option to make doctor appointments is through an app on your phone, it's much more agile and at least for me, it gives me less anxiety.But I can also see how some insurance company CEO could be jerking off to the idea of requiring a full health report to be disclosed from eID in order to provide insurance... This is something we should legislate against.

@blossomlilija@jorts.horse Absolutely agreed. No discussion there... Other stuff is in way more dire need of attention. I don't get paid for it though, which doesn't mean I will not fight for it, I do. But this I get paid to fight for, and if I can make something proper off of it, I will definitely push as much as I can to get something that is utopian rather than dystopian.

Honestly this new team lead we got is so good, like he has no fucking idea what he's doing mostly, but he openly admits it, seeks help, handles a lot of shit from the client for us, and always gives us super good feedback. Can't really ask for more...Also mf will openly discuss finantials with us which is technically against company policy but he doesn't give a damn :kekw:
