@joel that's why I prefer the f105w. Same watch, electroluminescent backlight. Someone posted the UK variant of the 105 (80-something?). I have gotten lost in these watch threads.

@linuxmagazine so cool to see you on the #fediverse. I'm a paper subscriber to a couple of your publications. Thanks for keeping physical periodicals going.

Also this is cool in the #eureka #doom editor... I had no idea about shift-c which would produce a 120deg arc: https://eureka.readthedocs.io/en/latest/cookbook/curved-stairs/index.html

New plan: Grab a 32bit copy of #antiX, boot the live environment, copy this old ass linked library over to it with the #xevil binary, run ldconfig and cross my fingers. objdump seems to show that the images are actually in there though i don't know how to get them out... i wonder if i ida pro runs on linux? this is getting ridiculous. i really need to get those floors laid instead.

Well now I have the libstdc++.so.2.8 object but I have no fucking clue how to get the binary to find it. I'm also on a 64 bit system, I should set up some kind of 32 bit VM.

I did consider trying to install this old copy of RedHat 5.2 in #virtualbox but it lost its shit when I tried to boot. This would be the obvious optimal path... just run the old stuff in a VM.

I seem to recall having this problem back in the day but I have no idea why it's doing this.

OK, well I'm calling this one a success... I *KNEW* the images were different. They weren't black and white but they were exactly like I remembered them. Here's the robots and ninjas. I'm sure I could capture others but I still have the same weird text issue I had in the window managers (note the jacked up menu options in the game).I just added "exec xevil" to my .xinitrc and it popped up. Maybe I'll futz with trying to fix it so I can run the game like this again sometime.Time to go lay those damn floors. Thanks for the commentary @dibi58 #linux #xevil #redhat #1998 #retro #computing #qemu #bullshit

A #subgenius artifact seen in the #xevil source code! Fuck 'em if they can't take a joke!https://github.com/lvella/xevil/blob/master/cmn/game.cpp#L264/cc @onan

After fighting through all that nonsense just to get an old copy of #xevil running, I asked myself a question while laying some flooring: "Was RedHat Linux 5.2 with AfterStep peak Linux?" It might have been...Also someone should either modernize XEvil or rewrite it in some way that's maintainable... I fear I don't know enough C++ to be useful with it. I believe the current source is here: https://github.com/lvella/xevil

Should've been in bed a long time ago. Decided to tinker with my #NaNoWADMo project so I lowered some ceilings and added a door. I noticed that even though the linedefs on the "tracks" of the door are lower unpegged, they still move in-game. Weird. Also my linedefs in another project in #eureka have a "Gen" option for types but I only get a "Choose" box. Curious if that's because of the vanilla source port usage rather than #boom.Ah well, something to tinker with later...Good #tzaf, #fediverse!#doom

Now begins the network fiddling because I don't have a cable drop here and it's a pain to drag a monitor over to the network equipment in the other room. I think I'll install #pi-hole directly via their installer instead of using the option provided by #DietPi

Hey folks using mercurial: why should it be used rather than git?I know git really well and it's pervasive but I've seen mercurial mentioned (along with fossil and darcs) more recently but I've never played with them.

Just wrote a simple and kinda dumb RPN calculator in #python with a big fat stack and no error correction. Going to try to learn enough #hylang to port it. Should be an interesting exercise.

The results of my tinkering with #hylang tonight. I wrote a simple RPN calculator in Python and then ported it to Hy. This was fun, I would like to work with it a little more. I might start by making my calculator more lispy.https://gist.github.com/cmhobbs/c5779696067ae4034f1f3bc0fc7029de

@raf it's a Linux distro and package manager that let's you declaratively define your installed software. It's gotten some traction lately for reasons I don't understand. it's been around for a while and it's pretty neat. Guix is the GNU project's attempt at a similar idea.
