Really? Epic is acquiring BandCamp?! I hope they don't mess it up. I've been working recently to migrate completely off of YouTube Music because, well, Google, and had picked Bandcamp as a reasonable alternative that enables me to directly support artists and actually own my copies of their work. Now I am not so sure...

@twisterghost Thanks, I'll take a look. I am resigned to self management so simply want sources where I can buy instead of renting my music. I am also considering a set up to digitize vinyl

Ending this not very great week with my last can of this beer. It is my only professional collaboration. Based on an old favorite homebrew recipe, a Belgian-style dubbel fermented with an abbey yeast strain. This version was finished on cherries after aging in rye whiskey barrels for six months.

A week has gone by since my mother passed way. I guess I am still mostly in denial, though honestly as a bit of a default. We have been so busy working on travel arrangements for her memorial, a blessed distraction. I feel like I've been holding my breath until we leave. I have been trying to make some space to sit with my feelings, too, so the grief doesn't rush in and overwhelm me in the first moment where I don't have some need or task pulling me forward.

I guess I never posted an #introduction when I joined the #fediverse. Here is mine.You may recognize me from my old podcast, The Command Line. I am still very passionate about the topics I explored there: the intersection of technology and society, for programmers like myself and everyday people.I think a lot about my chosen profession, software development. I have been at it a long while, mostly as a contributor but with some modest successes as a manager and coach.

I recently became a #vegan for health reasons. #wfpbno #forksoverknives I am increasingly interested in health and well being based on my experiences working on my heart health. I have a few wearables and am endlessly fascinated with comparing what they reveal and how I feel moment to moment. I have been practicing mindfulness for years and tend to see that is an integrated part of my health.

After successfully ending one relationship with commercial social media, I am preparing to end the rest. I am reminded how many other means we have for staying in touch that we collectively seem to have forgotten about. Also feels good to now favor tools without commercial interest and more support for our agency.
