@thenewoil And nobody is more grateful than I am about that!So sick of fighting with Microsoft to finally get things working the way I want them (no I don't want to use your store or browser or the ruined Skype!!) to have them come along every few years and say "New version everyone! It's like the last one but runs far less efficiently and is even more intrusive!"So I'm very very glad that my computer isn't "compatible". No thank you. I'll pass.

@adamasnemesis I had 2 separate Elon Musk parody accounts banned from Mastodon, despite being plain silly and inoffensive, because too many idiots reported my tweets thinking I actually WAS Elon. I mean ffs...I have some sympathy though - server admins lately are just scrambling to keep this all running. They don't want to moderate. So anyone generating reports is generating work for them, and it's just easier to ban.IDK. Until we can get paid mods I'm not sure what the fix is.

@Jazzy_Butts Actually let me clear something up: #AI doesn't "steal art". It doesn't even have a copy of anything anywhere in it. It "looks at" art and figures out how to "do" things based on what it's "seen".#AIArt isn't even sampling, really. It's a collection of calculations applied to random data to determine if it looks "right" as defined by user input.So if you claim theft, from a legal standpoint, you're claiming that Bruno Mars stole from Michael Jackson for being inspired by it.

@Jazzy_Butts It is the technical reality of the tool. Is there something about how Stable Diffusion is trained that you know that I don't?I didn't say it wasn't "trained" on extant works. In fact, if you re-read what I wrote (and I urge you to do so), I very specifically said it WAS.But, also, that it doesn't copy anything and it doesn't steal anything.It just learns how to do art the same way people do. By looking and getting a sense of what's "right".
