@realcaseyrollins Intel Management Engine #ime predates 2017 and it *has* been a big story, we just couldn't get normies to get excited, but there are projects built around mitigating this. #libreboot #coreboot #purism #me_cleaner Yes AMD has something similar, except it has not proven as easy to hack:https://www.extremetech.com/computing/292722-amds-secure-processor-firmware-is-now-explorable-thanks-to-new-tool

@realcaseyrollins Yes but I'm sure the engineers at AMD are working on solutions to that "problem." It's already gotten much harder in the last 5 years, and the only solution I know of is to throw every damned thing you've got at solutions like this: https://www.open-electronics.org/risc-v-the-era-of-open-source-cpu-has-begun/It sounds great, but I'm afraid it will die without a HUGE push.

@realcaseyrollins Going back to our conversation from a few months ago... there's news on the subject of the Intel Management Engine and working around it: https://blog.system76.com/post/major-updates-for-system76-open-firmware-june-2023I thought you might be interested.
