One of the biggest pieces of bullshit in privacy legislation is "legitimate interest"I get why a site needing an account or shopping basket etc would need session cookies for technical functionality but a news/information site for example doesn't need any form of tracking to functionJust because someone is "legitimately interested" in something doesn't mean that they "need" to know it

@thelinuxEXP you should always do what you are comfortable withI do currently watch on Odysee but I've been following TLE on YT for years before thatI will look into TILVids for my tech stuff too because it seems a decent alternative esp given that I have no income to lose out on for those videosI'll keep my gaming content off Peertube for now because its quite file size heavy compared to my tech

@to3k Not sure about what to suggest to replace but I use the Local Google Fonts plugin which hosts those Google fonts locally on your own server so they don't get pulled from GoogleMaybe worth looking into because I think your site is Wordpress basedhttps://en-gb.wordpress.org/plugins/local-google-fonts/

@thenewoil if the criteria for removal of these apps was applied to any app that send this level of data back to any country with a dodgy data collection record (looking at you 'merica) then the play store would be almost empty and meta would be public enemy number 1

@profoundlynerdy @thenewoil the irony is that the bill was proposed by a government who's then PM Boris Johnson is currently refusing to hand over WhatsApp messages under High Court order on the grounds that they are encrypted and he's lost the account passwordI guess the govt sees that there are some uses for encryption when ministerial misconduct is involved

@protonprivacy to be fair, its not like you guys handed over message content. Just account recovery address It's that person's opsec failure to link the proton account to a real world identity. Like anyone should trust Apple, Google etcI'm not up to anything dodgy but I use an always on VPN & my proton account uses recovery keys not email address Encrypted email is just one tool in your threat model not your entire threat model but I can't say I'm sad if it was a terrorist being caught
