@clive Unfortunately, these behemoths squeeze themselves in everywhere and block the sight of drivers in cars trying to pull out of spaces

@clive It's a shame that in the mobile app, Medium doesn't display story subtitles.

@clive I am ignoring the virtual haranguing I get from Meta to sign up for Threads. I use Insta to share art with a virtual community, not another venue for chatting. Esp. since there's potentially even more PII being exposed using Threads than just Insta

@clive If it doesn't mention those things, it's not a good piece. IMO.

@clive @noahshachtman The Washington Post in the past two days published a piece by David Ignatius that while not exactly fawning, sure came close. "Amoral" was his label. Today, their Style section ran a piece on Kissinger's dating history. 🙄

@clive It doesn't help that way too many pedestrians wear all black clothing at night and aren't paying attention to their surroundings.

@clive Read the comments section, which points to an obvious problem: the blinding high Kelvin LED lights on SUVs and trucks. Apparently technology exists and is used in Europe and Canada to make headlights safer for oncoming drivers and pedestrians. That's more convincing to me than distracted driving, which occurs at all times of the day.

@clive I'm a retired senior, and realize at some point I might have to give up driving (already minimal, 7 YO car with <20k miles). The only option for being able to go car free is being able to afford to live in an urban or urbanized suburb w good transit & high walkability score. IOW: expensive. That's where I live now & reluctant to leave even w living expenses going up & income not. Ebikes aren't a terribly safe solution for people in their 70s and 80s.

@clive My concerns are safety in the "road warrior" culture of urbanized areas, weight, expense, and safety for me as I don't see out of my left eye, so can't see oncoming vehicles or other bikes behind me.
