@xvilo You know it will work fine for 3 days and then start crashing every 3-4 days there after, for no obvious reason.

@stux Could I ask what you are looking for in an alternative - is it mainly the price that's an issue?

@xvilo Sure you are up to your eyeballs in stuff at the moment- but do you have any thoughts on updating to Mastodon 4.0? Some shiny stuff I'd like to play with, though I'll miss the 'Toot!' a lot

Sitting a pub with my wife who has spent 20 minutes thinking of a display name for her first Mastodon account. Any ideas? Please?

@mcread I’m surprised they don’t follow up with ‘federation is clearly a broken model because it means you can’t necessarily see content from all instances’The author really doesn’t get it.

@chris@abraham.su @stux it’s decentralised and federated - what it’s not (I’m pretty sure) is ‘distributed’

@mcread Sounds like it is probably fulfilling its purpose then.

Anyone got any thoughts on why Twitter has blocked third party clients but not things like Hootsuite? It is it simply that the large corporates tend to use it?

@frak @chris@abraham.su Ah thanks. I was unaware that there was a paid tier of API use, but thinking about it - fairly obvious that there would be. - - Appreciate the replies.
