Peertube needs actual content discovery. Sepia Search is not enough. I saw somewhere we could have a StumbleUpon style implementation. I don't have answers but ANYTHING would be better than what we have now. We also have poor search engine results. We could have better metadata. Five tags is simply not enough to feed to search engines.

@peranchor@meow.social Blockchain is immutable and permanent. If you wanted to disappear, nope. That option needs to be there. Also LBRY is centralized. If they go away so does your data. Peertube doesn't have account migration (yet) but at least I can run my own instance how I see fit.

@christalleras@share.tube The latest ToS update really turned me off of YT. Although I am monetized currently, I want to start converting my small following to Peertube. I am not hurting for the couple of bucks I get from YT a month.

@PirateRobotFromMars@fosstodon.org @ffeth@mastodon.gougere.fr Sepia is great to find stuff but you gotta know what you are looking for. It is hard to just land on something you want to watch on the sidebar. My instance only shows me videos uploaded locally. But I do have Sepia Search enabled for my instance so we can find stuff on the fediverse.I want to say I saw this on reddit somewhere... but someone mentioned getting a StumbleUpon style implementation for Peertube. Currently what we have on Peertube is really bad for discovery.

@anjan@pleroma.debian.social Am I in the wrong for having instance only videos? Only meant for my community?

@tilvids@tilvids.com We are all paving this road away from YouTube.

@PirateRobotFromMars@fosstodon.org @ffeth@mastodon.gougere.fr @root@tilvids.com Your number one point is why I don't want to federate with anyone. I setup a redundancy instance between this one and the fediverse so my instance isn't flooded with nonsense. But my videos still get pushed to the fediverse.

@anjan@pleroma.debian.social Oh, okay, I think I read your comment too fast. I am not interested in federation because I don't want my instance littered with random stuff. I setup Sepia as the search in order to reach the fediverse. I have followed and am following a redundancy instance I setup that auto accepts follows so my videos can be seen by the fediverse though.

@jeena@tube.jeena.net The dictators at Framasoft will not budge on the 5 tag limit. The admin of the server needs to be able to decide how many tags/characters that can go on the video. 5 is not enough. But I don't think it matters anyway right now as the results as displayed on search engines are garbage. Something about server-side rendering would fix the search engine problem.

@jonathan_2@devtube.dev-wiki.de I have Sepia enabled on my instance. It does nothing for recommending videos to users though.

@jeena@tube.jeena.net There was an issue on github where someone brought up increasing tags and the attitude of the reply of one of the devs was "absolutely not" or something like that. I don't know how to code but if I did a PR for it they would probably reject it
