I use a somewhat old #V800 sports watch (what a joke, it's 10y old and #Polar does seem to have stoped support for it). I use it offline by downloading its data to my Linux notebook. While on vacation I could do the same using the same software stack on my mobile phone: a #Librem5.Once in a a while I still get this feeling how amazing it is to have a small Linux computer in my pocket - even though it is already since more than a year my only mobile phone.

@zeroday Fairphones Plattform passt nicht zur Philosophie von @purism: Die Hardware ist integriert (afaik) und erlaubt es nicht die Komponenten, die closed source sind (Modem, Bluetooth, WLAN) vom smarten Teil (Rechner) zu trennen und abzuschalten. Ein solches Gerät wird über die Modem Firmware weiterhin ggf. mit Dir machen, was es möchte und Du hast nur die Wahl "ganz abschalten" (falls unterstützt) oder mit Modem eingeschaltet nutzen.

@zerodayWenn Du nach einer günstigeren Plattform für #MobileLinux suchst, könntest Du es mit #PostmarketOS auf dem #ShiftPhone probieren. Da wird dualboot unterstützt für einen gleitenden Umstieg. Der Kompromiss beim Hardware Design ist (noch) der gleiche: Ganz an oder ganz aus.

@zeroday Ich komme mit aktuellem Byzantium PureOS gut durch den Tag, nutze es aber auch wenig. Wenn ich weiss, dass ich es mehr nutzen werde oder länger unterwegs bin, nehme ich einen 2./3. Akku mit. Sind klein und schnell gewechselt.

@zeroday Ja, aber nur wenn ich es mit externem Monitor verwende (docked).Ach ja, seit einiger Zeit ist suspendiert sehr stabil. Das hilft beim Stromsparen immens.Aber auch ohne suspend mit Bildschirm wird meines nur lauwarm. Packagekit ist z.B. ein guter Kandidat für hohe Last. Ansonsten: top oder powertop...Im L5 Matrix Kanal bekommst Du in der Regel schnell und unkompliziert Tipps.

@dflag84 @purism For me calls and sms work without problems.Some time ago an issue with the modem sometimes vanishing had been fixed and since then I didn't have any issues regarding calls or sms.

@dflag84 @purism Yeah, that is still a bit slow. You need full view of the sky, phone not moving nor suspending and then about 10 minutes to wait.It takes time, a lot of time for the first sync (ever or after changing your geographical region without the gps activated).There's ongoing work to make that faster by using services on the internet and it will probably improve soon.
