Some mates & I have started a new jazz open mic night in our old cosy local theatre. It’s only our second one tonight & it’s pouring rain. I really really hope the rain doesn’t scare ppl away because we still have pay the hire fee for the theatre whether or not anyone shows up. 😭😭😭😭 In case you’re from around here or the Blue Mountains it’s at the Regent Theatre in Richmond and it starts at 7:30pm. $10 concession/pensioner and $15 general. There’s totally a snack bar and big velvety curtains.

Showed Dad a funnel web spider’s burrow. It’s actually kinda genius where it built its home, to the point that I haven’t the heart to hurt the spider. Its far enough away from my house that I’m not too bothered by it. It’s under the little A-shaped hollow of the trunk, out of the rain. A nice little hauspinne for a nice little spider.

@shoq I’m definitely on my way there. It’s slower for me. I kept trying to leave FB; people just can’t accept it. What I truly need is to be totally offline. The fact that I’m not offline yet is more about local humans becoming needy & starting to whine & paw at my door and give me strange concerned comments about my well-being (i.e. their inability to fathom anyone being more than ok offline) if I don’t turn up regularly on there. People pleaser, jedi level, I am.

@MelissaBearTrix Wow - I’m so so glad to hear this. And good for me too, to hear that this experience with police is possible after my own. You’re passing on the good stuff as usual… ✨

@sortius oh man, the shit I’ve been reading that makes it so abundantly clear that everything they act like they’re scared of now was something they’ve gone to great effort to create not just for themselves but the rest of us to deal with, not just in recent decades, but for well over a century. They made this go as badly as it’s gone. The last straw for me was a 1922 book by the American diplomat who foresaw & tried to stop Pearl Harbour (and very nearly did). They wanted this.

@sortius Could. Not. Agree. More. Can you explain what you mean by the original toot? I read it like 3 times but I’m only half-sure I understand what you mean by the second bit. (I am 200% not being a jerk, I really actually feel like I get it! I don’t act like that on socials, I hate that shit.. sincerity only. 😊 )

@onekind @trent Yeah. So I just listened to the article. After absorbing a good many articles like this in the time between my own near-death & my dad’s death 10 months later, I stayed with Dad for a time after they called his so-called time of death & my family left the room (which they did almost immediately!). I felt that sensation of the “life” (circulation & BP) having left his body, but I stayed. For this exact reason.

@SeaFury Same! Mum told me afterwards she had a kind of nausea reaction. I think it might be different for us daughters; we have a duty to perform as older Chinese daughters in that moment, and we go into “duty” mode. I do think if we feel like those acts of filial piety are happening naturally for us our fathers have left the world having received what I’ve read in the research our dads in particular view as the mark of a successful life. @onekind

@SeaFury @onekind (tell me to STFU if my curious questions are too much) Do you remember having thoughts or feelings or any such earthly sensation? I felt like I’d gone behind the veil… like it’s all just so stupid to even HAVE THOUGHTS or be worried about anything. Even my kids, which is bananas. But not. Because I knew they would also “know” this way. THE way. That’s why the Taoist stuff works for me. I didn’t just “see” the Way; I had joined it.

@SeaFury @onekind When I came home from hospital, Beardy nursed me for a couple of months. He started playing this to help me sleep. I was like, HOLY SHIT THIS IS WHAT I JUST SAW WHEN I DIED OMG! But I don’t actually recall saying it to him. I just lay around unable to do more than get to the toilet or take little gradual shuffles about the garden. But I thought about it constantly. I was like, “How did Lao Tzu KNOW??”

@SeaFury @onekind Thank god someone likes my pummelling interrogations. A mate of mine who was a CEO of a local social services sort of org who did wonderful things to bring it into the 21st century did an interview with me for the magazine once and I just indulged my curiosity beyond the point that I’d got enough for a feature article and at one point he just leaned back in his chair and started chuckling at how much I HAD TO KNOW THE THINGS.
