So, I've used #zfsonlinux a lot at this point. I'm quite happy with it on my NAS, its wonderful with multiple disks. The memory required and some minor tradeoffs (kernel updates) left something to be desired for a simple laptop experience.I gave #btrfs a try. I can tell you it is amazing. I know about the parity issues and the write hole. I have to say, for a single disk experience at least, I am astounded. Fast, lightweight, and the bootable snapshots. #btrfs has a rather undeserved bad rap.

@debugninja I really like yaml. If you aren't trying to use every single one of its features at the same time, its incredibly readable and understandable. Its good to have user-readable/writeable configs, and you need an editor which converts tabs to spaces. I have worked with ansible for about 6 years, all in yaml. There are some best practices when writing yaml that many people miss, but its not hard to fix.To exchange data between services, json I think is better suited.

@debugninja anyways, just from a pure markup language standpoint, yaml is much more readable and maintainable than XML IMO. The yaml structure has less syntax, is more readable, and forces readability by its very nature.

@djsumdog I really like traefik. We use it at work with consul to allow apps that don't use consul to reach services that use consul for service discovery. Haven't used it with containers, but I imagine the label thing is for flexibility.

@sir sure... Ethernet is total rated for 120VAC at 10 Amps.... Why not!?!? Should wrap it in newspaper while you are at it.... For insulation...

@emacsen Ubuntu touch is getting close to usable on #pineohone. With 4G disabled on Ting, I can make inbound and outbound calls, but audio routing is still an issue at least as of a week ago.Things are moving fast in ubports, but we are all going to have to practice some patience and hopefully find ways to contribute without slowing down the development team. I know they are working very hard right now.

@emacsen Hmmm, WiFi works for me, though there is a bug about disconnects from WiFi that take a specific reboot cycle to resolve. Did you flash the latest build on it?

@emacsen Take a look at the ubports pinephone readme, they have a good list of what is/isn't working.https://gitlab.com/ubports/community-ports/pinephoneSpecifically says it needs a warm reboot for WiFi.Also, I do believe the battery must be installed (and the plastic tab on it removed) as the battery is required for WiFi.

Been in the house so long, I haven't tried to connect to my home VPN at all. My cert expired in March! Wow! Hard to believe I've not once tried to connect back to the house since March!

@sir @bart I'm just thinking from a community aspect really. Being rude tends to discourage people from contributing, even if they were not in the group you were intending to be rude to. As well, generally, being rude tends to take away from a point, rather than adding to it. Personally. I would rather calmly, rationally and politely explain my position in clear terms. Even if our position is rejected, we have a better chance for change this way.

@sir @bart When we start getting to that point, maybe its a good time to take a step back and focus on what really matters. Open source contributor is mostly a thankless job, sometimes we need to stop and take care of #1. Everything is going to hell, but we needn't ride along. We don't need to be an apologist or give up our ideals to treat others with compassion. The real enemy is the proprietary anyway, this infighting doesn't help us at all.

@wolf480pl @blueberry this is why I prefer LXC. Get the low overhead of containers, as well as segmentation, but without the load of workflow limitation docker forces on you.

@R10T @farhan seriously, this is what happens when we develop open protocols, we allow others to build clients and servers. Its a good thing. Slack is great and all, but it would be better if it was open.
