Russia attacking Poland now? And saying "sorry we were aiming for a different country" is not a valid excuse! This is not a pleasant game of tag at a birthday party. What will Poland and NATO do?Let's reverse the situation. If someone accidentally fired a few missiles into Russia, would we expect Russia to do and say nothing? The elephant in the room has been flexing since February. Outside of Ukraine, it has been mostly ignored.Personally, I think the world has done the wrong thing in letting Russia do whatever it wants -- first with Crimea in 2014 and now with Ukraine in 2022. This is not democracy working to make the world a better place. This is tyranny, and spoiled children doing what they want with very little repercussions.

@fgntfg I don't know you, but personally I'll believe the independent news, not Russia: https://www.google.com/search?q=poland+missile&tbm=nws

I love upgrading software in Ubuntu using apt-get and dpkg. So simple. The way installing updates and security upgrades should be.Except when it comes to NVIDIA drivers. What a pain in the ***. Why did NVIDIA have to break the pattern and complicate things?Long story short, drivers failed to upgrade due to "error 1" in their custom install scripts and now I'm stuck in VGA mode with a single monitor...

Just found out about Last Thursdayism. Where people say everything was created last Thursday, and the planet, our memories, etc, were simply planted 1 week ago to attempt to convince us that we've been around for much longer.

Typical Discord conversation:Them: "I have an idea, will make me a fortune, I won't share the idea but guess what problems I'll run into and how to fix them, please tell me how to do programming, will I need a computer, how do I do object detection, and what is hello world?"Me: "Have you looked at the FAQ? Have you gone through my youtube tutorials? Did you try to setup the tools and related software as described in the readme?"Them: "Too complicated, don't have time, why is computer vision so hard, how do I learn OpenCV in 2 days, can I do this in VisualBasic?"Me: "...?"I'm starting to think I'm too old for this.

Looking for USB 3 capable overhead camera for higher FPS.Keeping finding cameras with descriptions like this:"Ultra smooth video performance — 15 frames per second (fps)."No, 15 FPS does not qualify as "ultra smooth video performance. :( I wish there was a way to call out these vendors and make them fix this marketing garbage.

@mjg59 They run it through ROT13. To be extra careful, they run it through twice, for twice as much encryption.

Why does this exist!? This is not some random coding test, this is production code. Two consecutive embedded for() loops, and both of them use the same variable.

While modifying the meld tabstop from 8 to 4 characters this evening, I was reminded of a job I had in the mid 1990s where the company's code style required us to set our tab stops to strange and uneven values such as "3 7 11 13 18 characters".What a mess that was. #cpp #sourcecode

I have no idea why it took me this long to notice. This application uses: printf("\nblah blah");Instead of: printf("blah blah\n");Part of the problem is when it prints a warning or an error and then waits for the user to press a key to continue. Without the trailing \n, the error message never gets flushed!I cannot fix this without touching every single printf() in this old-style C application. This may encourage me to switch everything to C++ sooner.#cpp #c
