the only explanation I can think of is either:a) the bus was late starting the routeb) the bus got caught up in Karori for ages, waiting at lights for all the private vehicles merging into the main road.

missed the last bus by literally seconds now I've 100% missed the train. There are all of 4 people on this bus. No way they took that long to embark.

at least I won "hand signal of the day" and got a free ride from the driver?

this is my absolute largest gripe with our PT network—seconds make the difference between being on-time or being 30-60 minutes late. driver shows up 30 seconds early? you're half an hour late. bus doors take a second too long to open? the bus you were trying to catch has taken off, and you're half an hour late. bus is 3 minutes late? you're half an hour late.this is why I'm getting an e-bike. I absolutely cannot put up with this. I do not have the time to be 15-30 minutes early out the door.

in the time I spent waiting for my bus, I could have ridden to the station.

I know disposable grocery bags are bad, but the reusable ones are a nightmare. Our house is full of them all the time and every time I try get rid of them more appear. They're cluttering up every surface and it makes me disoriented.

I completely missed that my bike battery was sitting on a surface waiting to be moved because my brain tuned it out as part of the grocery bag that's sitting there.

if your position is that people on jobseeker support are lazy bums why would you want them in the labour market. wouldn't you consider it an investment in productivity to keep them out of the hair of people who "actually want" to work

I don't like coming after the only group on the transport hierarchy more vulnerable than I am but would it kill people on foot to use the pedestrian section of crossings instead of bike section

one of my political beliefs is there should be a govt department responsible for all govt software needs, and all its code should be under a copyleft license

it shouldn't be possible for the govt to be held hostage by software companies, and it shouldn't be the case that we're running severely outdated software that requires a very messy and expensive transition to get away from

if you have a partner with basically any income you can't get a benefit. you're expected to be dependent on them. no money of your own, severely limited ability to escape an abusive relationship.changing it so your ability to qualify for a benefit isn't affected by your partner's income would be a really simple way to protect people from abuse. bit weird that these supposed feminists aren't pushing hard for it.

@strypey I agree.whether a UBI, or a simple opt-in bene that gives you a special tax code to claw any excess back—IRD seem the best folks to handle it.Let those good case managers focus on helping those with barriers to work, instead of focusing on fighting the system that's meant to help.

isn't it weird how there are like a dozen miserable right-wing losers responsible for pretty much every astroturf group in the whole country
