@wistahe @Alexis It's an installation that runs on a raspberry pi with optional projection. I'd love to write about it for a magazine. It seems to have crashed two years ago. I should probably reboot the pi. https://twitter.com/BlockAllTwerps

@n1ckfg Wow. This seems like it could be especially useful to know for things like long-running installations, where it could warn a curator what they need to make an image of an SD card or just replace it before waiting for it to die.

My bicycle-powered movers just called me to say they arrived at the studio. I thought I'd booked them for 2pm and I am not at the studio. Perhaps I will not move today.I am disappoint.

People do sometimes need cars. They need to move stuff or they're disabled or there are other valid reasons. Most people don't need cars all the time and most people who can drive are not especially skilled at it. Private cars take up tons of space, use tons of carbon to make and pollute like crazy. If we outlaw private cars, we can replace them with green black cabs - skilled drivers earning decent wages.

There are a lot of on-road (and online) conflicts between cabs and cyclists, but it's actually private cars that seem more reckless. The neighbourhood speed racers are not cabs. The people who stop traffic to shout at me are not cabs (with like two exceptions over ten years). The people who pass much much much too close are almost never cabs.Cabs and cyclists benefit if reckless drivers are taken off the roads.

Modern black cabs do not pollute at the point of use, are accessible to wheelchair users, are cheap for short distances and are driven by drivers who are respectful of their passengers.Black cab drivers have never asked me about my injuries, have been slow and cautious around speed bumps and been happy to take me very short distances at their normal rates. They are a vital part of city transport. As are cyclists.

It would be best for cyclists and cabs if we did not share space except in areas that tend to have a very slow traffic speed. Setting aside space for cycles and a separate space cabs and busses is a thing we can all agree on.

Bicycles, skaters, delivery vehicles, trades people, black cabs, disabled transport and busses all need to be out on the road.Who doesn't need to be there? Boy racers. Private cars for able bodied people. We could make this change.

Petition to replace "free as in beer" with "free as in coffee" to be more accessible to people put off by beer-drinking culture.Yeah, for real. People with religious reasons for not drinking don't need the micoraggression. Neither do people who live in places where beer is blokey, heteronormative or reminiscent of Brett Kavenaugh. ~Everyone~ is the target audience for FOSS. RMS-era Foss jokes all need to be reevaluated and many of them, including this one, have outlived their usefulness.

Ok, so the issue is that some people, including women and, in many countries, muslims, are marginalised in tech spaces and don't feel welcomed in the foss community.I know ~you~ don't do this, at least not on purpose, but some of your mates are being really dickish when you're not looking. At the same time, some items that you enjoy are sometimes weaponised by people you don't like, maybe in ways you don't notice.(Explainer thread 1/n)

So you like beer. It's fun, you can have it with your mates. It's a good time! You love going to a Real Ale pub. But, you know, 'spoons is Brexity, which makes it kinda hostile to migrants and the Campaign for Real ale is striking back against alcopops because they're girly and there's some sexism and unsubtle homophobia lurking under their otherwise good intentions. And then, you know, your muslim colleagues who don't drink aren't really all that welcome.(2/n)

Also, in the states, the phrase "I like beer" is become unfortunately the catch phrase of a[n alleged] rapist.I had a weird experience when I was like 19 and went for a job interview, below the drinking age in my country and it lasted for HOURS and a lot of much older men kept trying to get me to drink beer. It was not great, to be honest.(3/n)

And the search for a universally applicable replacement, so as to make sure it's something that is appealing for everyone is really annoying me because the context in which the old phrase functioned had specific power structures at play.As far as I'm aware, people who don't drink coffee do ~not~ face systemic issues in FOSS. We do not need to worry about accidentally repeating for the hundredth time that day that they're not welcome. What about the cishet christian white men? They're /fine/.

The all or nothing fallacy is the idea that things are either 100% or 0%. If something is necessary, then it must also be sufficient. But this is a lieVoting is very often subject to the all or nothing fallacy. Some, who wish to disempower you, will tell you it's the only thing. Some, who wish to disenfranchise you, will tell you it's nothing. Neither of those voices come from friends(Many) protestors can vote. (Many) voters can protest. Act in solidarity in the voting booth & streets

@emberr @CornishRepublicanArmy I've been assured by nurses that it takes quite a lot of air to kill (and I don't need to worry about my IV line when I'm in hospital). Please don't disabuse me of this.

Does anyone remember the film 'The Incredible Journey'? I think it was called that. A group of people in a submarine were shrunk down to a tiny level and then went on a voyage through somebody's blood stream.I feel like #goatse was sort of like starting on such a a journey going reverse through someone's digestive tract.
