Tories want to scrap wifi on trains.Their housebuilding plans are also all suburban car- dependant cul de sacs. This government is actively #climate hostile in ways big and small.Having train wifi means that I can get stuff done during my commute time, vs the dead time of being in a car. This makes it worth riding a train even if it takes longer. There are a bunch of anti-ULEZ posters wheatpasted around London. The people behind them are fash and the posters are not pasted very well. Tear then down if you see them.ULEZ stands for ultra low emission zone. They are literally putting up posters in support of air pollution because they have some conspiracy theory and a sense of entitlement rivaling that of the royal family. Year down their posters because they're wankers if for no other reason.

One fo the things the people who own LLMs have had to do is install all kinds of filters to keep it from spouting racial slurs.This is because they used training data that was full of racist text, all of which was considered appropriate for training data. Then, afterwards, they try to remove the ruder versions of racism, but the politely expressed version are fine.They have put garbage in and, no matter how filtered, they will get garbage out.Given the amount of money invested in this, I'm inclined to think it's intentional. They picked their data.

The "first they came for" poem is by an actual (regretful) Nazi talking about how he feels bad about being an asshole. It is not a historical document outlining their tactics. They did not act sequentially but deployed violence from the very start against every enemy they could reach. They foundationally hated Jews.Their ideological heirs have largely the same targets and the same motivations but we're not in a perfect parallel. This is important, especially to Jews. As we build solidarity now, we need to be there for each other and know when to listen. In general, many Jews are very knowledgeable about historical fascism and we should listen to them, whereas many trans people are more aware of what's happening now to LGBT people in many countries.We can listen to each other and protect each other. There are more of us than there are of them. We can win now if we stand together.

While it reflects the best of our knowledge at the time, ultimately, the conclusion is overly optimistic. Civilisation of a sort continues. Life of a sort carries on.It was only after the film was made that scientists gained an understanding of nuclear winter. One could argue that Britain, as an island, was well-poised to escape the worst of it, and perhaps that's true.Now we know that the nuclear winter and darkness would last for a hundred years. When the dust finally cleared, it would clear to completely out of control climate change. Nuclear war is the worst scenario for the continuance of human life on earth.However, policy maker's complete indifference to climate change is also making our outlook rather bleak. Only by concentrated, serious struggle do we have any hope. We must rebuild and reshape our societies through revolutionary action so that our societies may continue.Threads shows us a world without hope, but we aren't yet there. We still have power if we act together.
