@paul @stux @nyrath why would artificial gravity consume power when natural gravity doesn't? It's not doing work anymore than a planet is.

@paul @stux @nyrath flippantly: artificial grass doesn't consume power so it's not being artificial that's the issue;-)Seriously though, if the system is not doing work, why would we expect the system to consume significant power. Any power consumed would be system losses. Without a clue as to the physics of how it works though it's hard to estimate the magnitude of those.

@paul @stux @nyrath taking the ST UDC example someone have that bothered me. Activating AG should consume potential energy from the subjects "falling into the gravity well" for want of a better phrase.When the AG power fails one would have to expend power to return that potential energy back to the subjects.So you end up with the situation where an AG system needs a power reserve in the event of failure to do just that.
