Here’s a suggestion for the UK: the Chief Mouser for PMI would trust that cat over most politicians any day

Useless device idea: a cup with a built in thermometer and alarm. When the liquid you pour inside reaches not-scorching temperature, it sets the alarm off, thus preventing you from either burning your tongue or drinking your tea at less than ideal temperature.

Just a modified meat thermometer adapted to a cup should do the trick, honestly.

I’m absolutely using a meat thermometer on my cup now. 62C didn’t burn my mouth but was slightly too hot to enjoy the flavour - still numbed my tastebuds60C let more flavour come through but definitely more heat than taste58C seems to be where you start to not get numbed by the heat so I can see the 57C suggestion.Honestly my delicate tastebuds would prefer 56C or 55C.So there you have it. Make tea and let it cool down to mid-50C for proper enjoyment.

Last nigh we saw Ambulance (2022) and Jung_E (2023) and I found Jung_E much more entertaining than Ambulance.Like, I’m not denying that 2 hour of a totally unhinged Jake Gyllenhaal and ambulance chases are not entertaining, just that a robokiller sci fi is much more fun - and by being Korean it has zero American flags per frame.I also noticed that the Korean movie has a number of women doing many different characters - including the two lead roles - and it’s not a big deal, it’s not a movie about women. These characters happen to be women. Maybe Hollywood could take a hint.Yeah, I liked Jung_E! But still liked to see Jake Gyllenhaal completely losing control in an ambulance. He’s awesome.#film #cinema #movies #streaming #koreancinema

I found it amusing that the LAPD has no issues destroying half of LA and killing hundreds of cops in order to maybe perhaps who knows save the life of a cop who is half dead inside an ambulance - they clearly don’t care about the EMT since they were ready to shot the ambulance when they thought the cop was dead. It’s a “let’s save the cop no matter what” message here. Their priorities are clear - even a cop who might not be alive has more rights than literally the entire population of the city.I don’t know the what was the message Michael Bay was trying to send with this movie, but to me it’s quite clear. I’m terrified of LA cops.

So, Scott Adams from Dilbert went on a racist rant during Black History Month and people are obviously outraged, with some publications making the decision to finally drop his comicNow, Adams has been spewing right wing conspo for years, and also misogynistic bullshit. But no one ever cared. If people had listened to those who complained about Adams 10 years ago, he wouldn’t have a platform to spew his racism today, and that’s why tolerating intolerant people is never a good idea. The impact he has today is only possible because no one listened to people saying he was bad for the last 10 years. So the next time you see signs that someone is bad, believe it. They won’t get better if you ignore.

@XanIndigo @KelsonV I don’t think anyone actually dislikes pigeons for being pigeons - they’re cute birds.Anything moves from “friend” to “pest” category when they become a vector of disease, and unfortunately this has happened with urban pigeons. They can spread multiple zoonosis and become a nuisance based on that. It’s really unfortunate. Do not go around touching undomesticated pigeons (or any undomesticated animal, period) as there is a risk of disease. They’re still cute just keep a distance.
