URGENT URGENT URGENTCompany decided to "eliminate my position" yesterday; as of about 11am yesterday I was out, though they insisted that I would be paid for a full 8hrs for the day.I need something RIGHT NOW. (Specifically I need benefits right now because hi, ADHD meds aren't cheap if you can't take generics.)Web app pentester (until yesterday), some network, DM for resume -- but let me know what sort of position because I have a couple tailored variants! I'd like to move to managerial/supervisory; I'm good at knowing when to call in the SMEs, herding cats, and getting warring departments to actually work together.

I didn't get the in-writing edition for five hours, about 4pm yesterday. No severance, insurance stops after the 31st (so I have three days left), FSA card stopped at midnight last night. Glad I got my Adderall filled the day before, hoping my doc actually calls in the other basic prescriptions (cheap, fortunately) ASAP so I can pick them up by Tuesday.

My Adderall is actually ready. So are more muscle relaxers.I can't afford it. I can't afford to keep the power on or the the water or the phone. Or groceries. Let's not even talk about the car. Please. Please. If you can help. Please. Things get shut off end of the week.Bio has links. Forgot that Paypal does a .me thing so that's there now too.Edit: Phone is saved. I got a few Ingredients to feed kids (fortunately I can cook AND have a Costco membership. You can do a lot with flour and water and sourdough starter.) Now for the others...

So. Um. I hate asking for help. Especially more than once. But I need some help pretty urgently.* I need to get a couple of new tires for my car (sidewall damage to one of them), get it inspected for my state, and transfer registration here by the end of the month. I can't xfer registration until I deal with some fees I forgot about while moving. Total needed is about $2k (a bit more, but the critical bits are about that.)Tax return won't be here even close to in time. This isn't touching bills or anything else I have to deal with, just the car -- the immediate critical thing. If anyone can help me out, I would MASSIVELY appreciate it; I have the usual assortment of money things (Venmo**, Cashapp, etc) if anyone can assist at all (gave up and added to bio).EDIT: 10% there... THANK YOU!! Crossing fingers and I promise more cat tax for every 10%!*(It would be LESS urgent if I was better about asking for help and/or had reliable executive function, but.)**(The handles were picked BEFORE I heard about the APT group. Now I keep them so assholes can't use them, plus I like and have ebony felines.)

ALSO if anyone has job leads... I need full remote and a certain bare minimum (W-2), and I lose basic things in tech interviews but can confidently chatter about those same things at length in conversation, and I'm available immediately; while my recent experience is pentesting (mostly web app), I'm open to nearly anything except sales and not wedded to infosec. I'm rusty, but I will happily build servers and I'm GOOD at fishing through logs to find things and fix them. I can learn tools, and regard ATT&CK as a useful checklist and STRIDE as more functional for effective threat modeling. DM for resume!(The big thing is the immediate help needed per the previous post, unfortunately.)

Lovely.$1200 by the 15th or my car is repossessed.Normally I'd use the social security to pay it, but that's already redirected from "food" to "storage unit for Kidlet's dad's estate" when it hits tomorrow because THAT is about to be lost totally and late ex's family has completely ghosted me on helping with it.I just#pleasehelp EDIT 5/10 - midday: $710/$1200. I'm afraid to hope. (THANK YOU) $490 to go...(seriously if anyone is wary of actual money use I am more than happy to give the accounts/bill portals over Signal for direct. I'll even say how to access them through a link I don't provide.)EDIT: *Ideally* I can find a job so I don't need rescuing after this because I hate needing rescue but there's no way a paycheck would hit fast enough right now -- so I need rescue. AND a job please. Need full remote, and have a lovely home office for it.

I kind of urgently need to know how to preserve books so old I should wear gloves when handling them and am seriously considering a nitrogen filled case for at least one. We're talking physical volumes that are a legit hundred years old.

@textfiles @legion303 @hB0mb I mean I accidentally crumbled the edge of a couple pages trying to turn them on one. Even with gloves and still air/no fan in the room I'll have to use a page turner knife thing. (I think a larger shim from my locksport stuff will do the trick, they're thin enough and some are large enough; I'm worried about surface area until I know for CERTAIN how much "give" is in the pages past "very little, DO NOT SNEEZE."Plus they're... uh, I think "very old books" + "belonged to my great-grandparents" + "my kids and I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to read these but without damaging them" + "back to the family heirlooms thing" = preserve these babies *heh*

@textfiles @legion303 @hB0mb I mean they were... you know the MacMillan pocket editions that were published in the 1920s, the hardcover ones? A few are those, and those aren't the oldest ones. These were meant to be read and loved and carried around. If I do that NOW... heh, no.(I have a feeling there are a couple in there that might make a collector or two drool. Not necessarily over $$ value, but just "holy shit that still EXISTS?!")Also these smell SO GOOD!!! That wonderful old-book smell!!!!!

Just saw the Bezosmart "Cyber Monday deal" for the record player Kiddo got for her birthday. It's a dollar less than the thing has been on the Victrola site for a few weeks. Find whatever you like on Bezosmart and go get it from the actual manufacturer (or one of their listed "authorized dealers".) It'll be the same price or better, and the shipping is likely to be a lot less destructive. I'm seeing a lot of companies offering deals/bundles/coupons you can't get on Bezosmart, tooAs for Bezosmart gift cards, I'm pretty sure you can buy Visa/MC/etc gift cards with them; $3-5 for basically a "portability" fee and boom, no longer locked in and you can hit up all those small businesses with better stuff.

Also my brain reread "Bezosmart" as "Bozomart" and now that wannabe general store is forever going to be called that in my head. (It was a decent idea at first, but enshittification happened.)
