I have been spending my last few evening cleaning up the spacing inconsistency of some KDE apps and this is pretty rewarding work :)Look at this beautiful Partition Manager which is maintained by @stikonas

Did you know @kde had an #accessibility inspector? Currently it's hidden in the build folder of libqaccessibilityclient but not for long. We started the process of making it a standalone application and a first release is planned in 2-3 weeks!https://apps.kde.org/accessibilityinspector/#a11y #linuxDeskop

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're refering to as Linux, is in fact, KDE/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, KDE plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning KDE system made useful by KWin, Plasma and vital system components comprising a full OS.

Looks like we will manage to port a large majority of #KDE software to Qt6 in time for the February release. Just this last 10 days, we ported KTimeTracker, SkanPage, Ark, KRegexEditor, Francis, Vail, Iso Image Writer, KGet, Okular, Wacomtablet. And there are several more ports in progress.

Question to the #BahnBubble in the Fediverse. A friend had a connection from Strasbourg to Berlin but she received a notification that her train was cancelled "zugbindung aufgehoben". Issue is that the first part from Strasbourg to Mannheim was with an TGV booked via DB with a compulsory reservation which still seems to run but the email wording says the whole trip is cancelled and she need to rebook the parts with an compulsory reservation which now cost 55€. 😬 #DeutscheBahn

@davidrevoy Just a small clarification but the old Wacom tablet config module is still maintained and released as part of Plasma 6. It's X11 only but this is also something upstream Plasma still support. https://invent.kde.org/plasma/wacomtablet/And yeah I am also not a fan that Fedora dropping X11, there was no need for that yet. Changing the default to Wayland and keeping X11 available for people like you, would have been enough.

@davidrevoy @halla Porting Calligra from Qt5 to Qt6 took me 4 evenings. The transition is a lot easier than previous major Qt updates. The biggest pain was QRegExp.

I wrote a bit last night about my progress on a new password manager for Plasma :) For the moment this is more a proof of concept than anything usable in production, but I am already quite happy with the statehttps://carlschwan.eu/2024/07/01/initial-work-on-keychain/#kde #security #linux

Here is a small update on my new password manager project (for those who missed it https://carlschwan.eu/2024/07/01/initial-work-on-keychain/).Keychain now supports opening KDBX files encrypted with a key file and an hardware token.#kde #plasma #linux #security

I'm feeling so exhausted lately. It's terrible 😞. I never had to force myself to work on some cool KDE projects until 2AM every night (on the contrary I had to force myself to stop). And now I have way less energy to even open my laptop and keep up with my notifications. I should probably take some vacations which don't include going to a Free Software conference or traveling by trains across Europe and sleeping at hostels.
