@ivor @stux My spouse and her groups are all moving to Bsky. Couldn't get them to understand Mastodon or the fediverse and everyone they know jumped to bluesky because it seemed more familiar and most people they already knew were on it.

@stux @ivor *sigh*I tried, I really did. Same problem with Linux and LibreOffice. So much better in so many ways, but so many still choosing ad bloated or ridiculously expensive Operating Systems. No one listens until finally they get it somehow with their own experience.

@futurebird I wish I'd had a teacher like you. The abstract stuff was always beyond my reach unless I had real world examples. The word problems were sometimes do-able for me because of that.

@john Currently AVLinux. Used Linux Mint, before that Debian, before that Ubuntu.I prefer Linux Mint, usually. I do have it on my laptop.AVLinux without systemd is the only one that works without any issues on my 2016 Dell XPS desktop.

@stux @nhgeek In North Alabama, that often has tornados, the wood houses tend to survive better than the brick houses because the wood "bends" and the brick just breaks. Also, it depends on the quality of the construction. Around the 1950s, cheap became the standard over quality. Even those houses stand up better than the ones built from the 1990s on, which usually start falling apart after 15 years.

@futurebird @peterbutler Some people are really good at "cold reading" and mistakenly attribute it to psychic phenomena. That's what I suspect happens in successful cases.

@stux @EUCommission We had a system of checks and balances.That kind of worked.Until the knuckleheads in one party ignored all of them.And weren't stopped legally by the other party, as they should have been.We even had a few good years of "build back better" which is now being destroyed.This hate of "immigrants" movement is worldwide, unfortunately.The majority are not for this, but have little economic or political power right now.Which is why we're sabotaging what we can.

@overholt I also have needle phobia. I have to look away and make up stories in my head as it happens. Also a universal blood donor with my type so if I don't give blood I feel tremendous guilt, so I have to face my phobia every time and get drained a bit.
