Friendly reminder. Just because there’s no engagement algorithms behind the scenes on the fediverse or any invisible string pulling or whatever to push higher engagement, that doesn’t mean the very real and human tendencies that those algorithms and tactics play to don’t apply here.Rage bait, click bait, misinformation, radicalization, confirmation bias, all of these things are still very much problems on the fediverse. They’re just not as exaggerated.

There’s this “vibe” fediverse users give off that they are somehow immune to, or above and removed from, all the problems of big social media platforms by virtue of being on the fediverse, and that’s arrogant nonsense.
