@stux except Vine was just 6 seconds (iirc?) and square format, whereas TikTok was initially like 30 seconds mobile videos, and now 1–2 minutes.I also don't think Vine included such a great algorithm, which is yeah, a huge privacy violation, but it what makes TikTok so great — it literally adopts for you, isolating you from content you don't want to see, and pushing more content that you'll most likely enjoy.This is how it usually goes and I think TikTok is a huge improvement on Vine idea.

@strypey it's the other way around, lol. signal and telegram both always required a phone number, but telegram always had usernames and after mass bruteforcing during hong kong protests they also added option to make you impossible to find by phone number. signal got those features only recently, and it still requires a phone number. worse, it always sends codes over SMS whereas telegram now tries to send codes to other devi- oh right, signal doesn't support multiple devices*
