I was thinking the same thing, both ways - the teacher has the expert knowledge about what the connections are, and the students (maybe?) have the expert knowledge of what the compelling gamified frame is.@futurebird

@futurebird I get that some folks are interested in process, many are interested in sportsball score-keeping, but most are interested in consequences.

@futurebird Lots of things going on at the same time, but if I had to pick, I'd say that elites (and a big chunk of population) never got over the events of December 1991.Similar to how American elites (and a big chunk of population) never got over the events of April, 1865.

@futurebird The ongoing conflict(s) (and a CCCP sweater next to a MAGA hat) suggest that it is to soon to know if either cause is lost.Although I remain hopeful.

@futurebird The underlying problem with that hypothetical is that the actor who is presenting such a "proof" has the means and incentive to subvert/destroy that system (as well as the devices), so the resulting "proof" will not be independently validatable, and so from our outside perspective, it is not a proof at all.

@futurebird Repair is a ritual that speaks to deeper needs than a working phone, or the latest camera lens configuration. We restore our tools to health. We raise our tools from the dead.We defeat death.

@futurebird @maswan @Jirikiha @sinituulia All of this without even starting to talk about ad networks as an unavoidable and unmonitorable vector for malware and privacy failures (just the infra, not even getting into the content).

@futurebird He is deeply committed to never speaking about any statistic or numerical fact in a way that would suggest that it's important to understand how basic math works, or even that it exists at all. But it is not just numbers, it is reality in general. No commitment to facts, to acknowledging "things as they actually are."Math is used to solve problems, but "solving problems" is not his core value. To be fair, reality itself is "anxiety inducing" for many.

A surprising amount can be read from the data, and for some users, it can be life-threatening.The entire WhatsApp profile database (including correlatable phone numbers and face photos) leaked.https://www.heise.de/en/news/3-5-Billion-Accounts-Complete-WhatsApp-Directory-Retrieved-and-Evaluated-11083244.html#Privacy #WhatsApp #Databreach
