"Ah but sure it's part of the culture", "It's a great employer now", and other such bullshit needs to be consigned to the bin of history - the gambling industry has no upsides, only downsides. https://my.uplift.ie/petitions/stop-the-greedy-gambling-corporations

Off that list? Acca Dacca, Green Day, RATM, Rammstein, Blink 182.The real list has to include Frenzal Rhomb, TISM, and Blondie though ๐ No to mention The Angels, Fugazi, Pulp, Rose Tattoo, The Regrettes, Sum 41 ... (recedes into the distance)

Excellent as always - might have to watch the Barbie movie now, I wouldn't have bothered otherwise. https://youtu.be/VNsTOQGjP-U?si=Co7uHTxcx1N74NZZ

@aral I've been a literal tree-hugger since an early age. Never understood people who think it's an insult! Trees are lovely and calming, great places to sit and think and read.

@aral Barely any need for burglars to do that - when is the last time you saw anyone respond to an alarm?

@N33R @evamik 10am for their third coffee? Softcocks. If I'm only on my third at 9 I'm still comatose. Sounds like they're getting altogether more sleep than is justified by the state they're leaving the world in...

@aral And we all know that regex usage leaves you with two problems - https://regex.info/blog/2006-09-15/247(disclaimer: Perl is still my true love, even though I've no avenue to use it at work save for some old library systems' bespoke scripts that need a tweak whenever we upgrade Dead Rat Linux majors. And I really like regexes when appropriate, which for text processing is very often)

@foone Tridge - legend, but holy fuck SMB is such a weird shit show of a file-sharing "solution". You couldn't expect anything less from M$ though I guess.

@aral So - less shitty is still at least a bit shitty? Fair enough.Wikipedia itself is still one of the more useful places on the Internet in my estimation - would you have any shareable thoughts on more anarchist, or at least decentralised, alternative stores for human knowledge? Is Wikipedia sufficiently non-hierarchical to be usefully trustworthy?

@futurebird In Ireland, the equivalent would be "insurance". It's the Great Irish Excuse for not doing something - "sure the insurance won't cover that"...

@futurebird I quite like the approach of focloir.ie to providing pronunciation guides for words in different dialects - a similar thing for IPA would be really cool.

@heluecht @evan The rules are consistent across the EU with respect to EU citizens' voting in other EU countries for MEP elections; with the added wrinkle that you can vote for a candidate in your country of residence or in your home country, but not both ๐Local and national election rules are much more of a mixed bag although it's common for EU citizens to at least be given local election (county/land/etc.) privileges.
