I already knew they weren't going to negotiate in good faith so why keep wasting my time. they're enemy faction. I didn't want to be around them anymore.

If managers are managing things badly I can't bootstrap my way out of that as the engineer. That's their fault. They need to fix it otherwise deal with high turnover.
