@clive I’m driving a 2015 Volvo with no touchscreen but half of the functions can be adjusted from the steering wheel too, it seems like the functions they mention are non essential to adjust quick while driving - also as you mentioned, to be familiar with the UI makes many things quicker. - for a month I drove a Skoda Octavia with touchscreen, didn’t matter much. For me Bluetooth and CarPlay is a must and radio volume buttons/up/hang up on the steering wheel too.

@clive you must try a car with volume controls/ phone controls on the wheel, it’s fantastic. Having the speaker with Bluetooth combined with the controls made such a great difference (for me).(Yeah I love my car, unfortunately, I can go on about this forever so I gradually buzz off now 🤪)

Still thinking of what @clive wrote about tiktok and the algorithm and app design and it’s so much true for the fediverse and almost so far all the apps I tried (Metatext is still the best to use for a not tech -half nerd- person). The app experience can make it or break it- not to mention the onboarding confusion.

@clive typography so often overlooked and Jobs (and I guess I’ve) was good at that too. This was a running argument with my IT/ developer friends - they thought that the how it looks and how it works (user experience) is just the top 10 percent or less importance of the whole thing. Ah and they mocked me for having a Mac calling me elitist (until Apple switched to Intel and suddenly all the buggers got MacBook Pro’s bc of course)

@shadowfacts I’m using it for like..3-4 days now, I like it very much, My mini issues:-the home (TL) refresh button works weird it jumps up and down and the -TL refresh itself is slow occasionally. - it would be so good to have an indicator inside the app (next to the bell icon) to show if I have notification. I don’t automatically revisit posts I wrote, it would be nice to have a little “hey dummy, someone wants to talk to ya” red dot or something.

@shadowfacts Congrats for the app in general, it’s fun, first after Metatext for me to enjoy. Also much appreciated that the report and block options are there already unlike in the ice cube thing and ivory.

@shadowfacts thank you for your reply :) Didn’t think about the read/not read thing I sort of thought it’s the same/similar “system” to the timeline (as in I can mark my place at the timeline I was is similar to wether I have “unread” notifications. Anyway thanks again :)

@clive I mean Bit Hero 6 was good at this. They established that it was a robot. It was supposed to be a health support robot. It was not some “sentient being” and it stayed a robot. Didn’t struck by a lightning or something. The emotional connection is there of course but with “consent”. I liked they made it this way.

@wjmaggosWould be interesting.But yeah well, let’s just say I wouldn’t happily join a Saudi/UAE/Qatar server if I can help it. No illusions about their default monitoring capabilities (blah blah blah I’m using the local network anyway blah blah) but to willingly post on something set up in the region..nope. Or: since so many are using VPNs it would default to those.
