@freemo tipping a driver is unethical as it encourages them to break the law for the big tip for delivering faster.

@mike805@freemo sure, but what science cannot detect has to fit what we know where there is overlap.

@mk@freemo the US is close to the equator and should average to darker skin than we have.

@TruthSandwich@freemo Ds are not very liberal. At one time maybe, but i don't see much liberal thinking in general. They preach tolerance and understanding only to their friends, but not to everyone.

@kaia Ad companies have broken an unwritten contract: they have shown me ads for scams, shown me things I find offensive, invaded my privacy, and a few other things that I can't remember. I'm not against ads, but they have to obey an unwritten contract with society.

@freemo They always ask me to fix their computer. I know enough about Windows 3.1 or MacOS7 to be useful, but nothing newer as I've been using FreeBSD or Linux since the mid 1990s.

@freemo@olives @VoxDei if you can get a chance, fire a full auto gun once for fun. However the cost of that 20 seconds combined with how little control you have will convince you that it isn't something to do often. There is the reason the military mostly uses.3 round burst or semi auto mode. Full auto is useful at times, but if you get hit by a gun on full auto it is your own stupid fault, while semi auto it is the skill of the gun operator.

@wjmaggos I don't you, but many self proclaimed liberals will say things like that, but they give evidence by the meams that make/like that they haven't. They instead have built a strawman of what others believe and attack that.

@wjmaggos liberal is a very old term. The original liberals where Christians ,either Catholic or Protestant who agreed not to kill believers of the other. Most think of it as politically left=liberal, but that is not what the word means.

@StillIRise1963@Aviva_Gary Real security would have no lines, ever. A line is a perfect place for a terrorist to set off an bomb: kills a few hundred people, and is a choke point so the rest of the airport is not functional for weeks while they clear rubble.

@anderspuck a bridge makes it easier and safer. A ferry across the water needs to be loaded and unloaded on either end which is time and place for the enemy to strike.@picard

@Streetsweeper@DrTCombsThe radiator defines the size not the engine. Can't haul a heavy trailer up pikes peak on a hot day with the AC running without a big radiator upfront . Some reviewers have started doing this so car makers respond by making it work.

@freemo@Amikke 200 years ago humans walked as they couldn't afford anything else. Only their rich could afford a horse. Farmers might have an ox, but they didn't ride in the cart, they lead the oxen.

@kravietz all at the expense of consumers who have to spend more on food and thus either work more or have less other things.EU could compete much better if they didn't saddle farmers with anti science policies. (GMO and roundup bans for example)

You can't QA bolts after the fact. There proper procedure often is torque to yield which means checking the torque will turn them to out of spec.
