@ajroach42 Do you think the word "strips" on the front cover has anything to do with it?

@ajroach42 I wonder whether it's because there's an author R. Crumb who wrote a lot of arguably adult books. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Crumb

@foone I still remember the code using the obscene mnemonic my high school electronics teacher said once quickly under his breath.

@foone Hey I also have a friend named Eclipse! I should send her a note, it's been too long since we talked.

@foone What blew my mind several years ago was running into the Cairo API, where all the coordinates are floating-point. When I learned programming, only a lunatic would have considered using floating point for anything intended as a low-level screen drawing library. And, these days, it's fast enough and it just doesn't matter!

@foone I once did some work with a simulator across different applications and operating systems so that I could measure the number of CPU instructions from the point at which the keystroke came in on the keyboard port to the point that it appeared on the screen. Never published because it didn't produce anything academically significant. It was fun work nevertheless.

@futurebird It looks like that one is under a construction scaffolding, which is presumably temporary and not under the control of the shop owners. Hard to blame them for being uninviting in that case.

I attended the San Jose #nokings protest this afternoon. There were thousands of people. I did not see any police or, indeed, any need for them. I took many, many photographs (all with permission, except for the large crowd shots): https://photos.app.goo.gl/MFC4vfkZfHogewWH8

@futurebird Sometimes they do things that are really silly. I was once searching for things for a party I was trying to throw where we'd play billiards. At least at the time, I couldn't get the search engine to avoid finding things for pool parties, which are completely different.

@foone Hitting the degauss button on my monitor 25 years ago was always so satisfying. It never really seemed to do much but the sproing! effect was great.
