Now I'm in one group where I mostly lurk and only cause a friend made it with rules specifically too prevent a repeat.

@Paradox@raru.re honestly if someone went ahead and said they thought I was sexy it wouldn't matter how they said it (I wanna fuck you, god your hot, etc) I would react the same way. Confused, awkward, incredibly flattered and with no clue how to proceed. I give compliments and treasure the initiative. I don't recieve or have people come after me (except negatively)

@Paradox@raru.re I don't think it'll get to human level. Not because it principally can't, but because the technology that would allow for it isn't on the horizon so there's no telling when it'll arrive or not. AI is best compared like a calculator vs an Abacus. The AI is a sophisticated system for solving a discreet problem. Right now it's incapable of branching out. A chat bot doing math is hilarious because it's not modeled for that, it's modeled to resemble human dialogue. But an AI for solving math problems isn't going to conduct a conversation. The biggest barrier is density. We humans pack in vastly more processing power (actual number of neurons) in a small space and then we also are able to store vastly more information through mechanisms that simply aren't understood yet. We think of the information our brains handle as memories or facts, but forget that we're constantly managing our blood pressure, light exposure to the retina, breathing, digestion, etc all that information is going on IN ADDITION to what we're consciously thinking about. All of that said, in a big fan of the Turing test: if I can't tell the difference then who cares?Just treat anyone you interact with nicely and the robots won't kill you after the singularity (hopefully).

@newt@stereophonic.space you can "cure" most mental issues. The question is what kind are we drawing for what's considered a disorder or just a quirk?Is cross dressing an illness? How about being strict? This is pretty grey stuff.

@jeff@mk.magicka.org I say this with no rancour or judgment (this is usually said as a condemnation) read a history book. I'm no advocate for violence, but it would be inevitable. Armed riots usually lead to short term increase in violence and then long term change. The people in charge aren't fans of a mob showing up at their home with weapons so change comes shortly after ("shortly" can mean a couple years).Civil unrest leads to large scale change. It's it good? Usually not, but it does get there eventually when large numbers of people are moved to violence
