@kinetix @batterpunts Any admin or any person at all, who removes my agency is being a dick to me. Sure maybe it's foolish to think that Mastodon admins with their little dictatorships wouldn't be dicks to me. Maybe I'm a naive polyanna. But I'd still like to be treated like an adult.As for a network with a billion people on it: GOOD! I WANT TO TALK TO PEOPLE! That's the point of a social network! @stux One note about this entire debate is the very fact that Mastodon has so many virulent Facebook haters when the general population has almost none is, in itself, evidence of how small, insular and outside-the-mainstream the population here is.To be clear my position isn't "I love Meta, kisses, smooches", but... man we need a LOT more, and a lot more diverse-in-opinions, people here and that might be a good way to get it.

People here are like "don't use weird unicode characters to make gothic or italic or whatever text because it screws up screen readers" and I'm here thinking: AOL Instant Messenger in 1997 could send styled text, why the fuck can't this system designed DECADES later?Like, let's point out the real problem here: the software's shitty.

@arcticwolfe @batterpunts I actually think Federation is an anti-feature. Nobody actually WANTS it, and even for people who do the necessary trade-offs it creates are basically torture.Sure it works for email but this ain't email.

@arcticwolfe @batterpunts BTW what you're supposed to be doing, apologies if you already know this, is if you find an account you:1) Open up their profile on their instance2) Go in the URL bar and copy the URL of it3) Go into your own instance and paste the URL into the search bar4) Wait too long for results5) Click the literally only one result you'll ever have, since user@instance are guaranteed unique-- god forbid it just AUTO select it6) Wait too long7) Now click Follow

@aliss I really feel like if your story's premise is "we couldn't cancel the demo, therefore we pulled an all-nighter then unethically defrauded our own employer" you really need to give a REASON you couldn't simply reschedule the demo. Were they working for Vlad the Impaler or something?A little self-awareness of "oh, hey, fraud is unethical and often illegal!" would have shown a small amount of personal growth too.
