there are two types of people (to judge from their reactions) i tell about my '91 honda civic daily driver with >1.1MM miles that gets 40 mpg:type a: 🤢type b: "thats fukkin awesome! you know you can install an after market oil cooler and probably eke out a couple-few more mpg... and another million miles!"

distillation train getting fired up today after 46 days of downtime for expansion work. first column got up to operating temperature in 3 hours with the new hot oil reboiler versus the 12 hours it used to take with the electric reboiler.

i set up a couple of refurbished chromebooks (dell 3189) for the human resources. peppermint ended up being the most out-of-the-box linux distro to work, though it doesn't have touchscreen support.

turns out 31 extra feet of height really changes the way a column operates. no. 2 in the distillation train was a huge PITA to get lined out, but the performance improvement seen so far more than makes up for the growing pains.
