Out of curiosity: Is there anyone using shadow dom on plain divs or something? That is, using it on something *besides* a custom element?

I am once again asking: If you haven't looked at/weighed in on this poll about how we add exclusive accordion behavior to the web platform - please do. The text describing it is fairly short. This is a way that ~any~ developer can potentially help influence the future of the web platform in only a couple of minutes!Boosts appreciated. https://github.com/openui/open-ui/issues/812

Did you know @igalia is a cooperative? If you've ever wondered about how that works, my colleague Valerie Young gave a great talk at FOSSY (and organized the breakout session!) which breaks it all down. Great talk!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=du7fC8VCbXg

Wow, TIL George Harrison created a film studio to finance Monty Python's Life of Brian... And Time Bandits?! I probably have not that many followers that remember Time Bandits.... Are you one of them? :). I am tempted to find it and rewatch it as an adult, but I'm afraid it will ruin it for me. So much doesn't hold up/seems to have lots of stuff I cringe at now.

If you put some math into a regular old google search it presents you a whole solver with, in this case, 30 <math> tags rendering MathML natively (h/t @dginev) MathML implementations in browsers has been the tireless work of volunteers and for the last several years @igalia funded by a patchwork of investments, a couple of minor sponsorships, grant, and now exclusively by the collective below & Igalia itself.Idk web engines: seems worth investing in :)https://opencollective.com/mathml-core-support

Did you know @igalia works on Node.js? Have you ever wondered how it works internally, mixing those powerful native features written in C with those written in JS itself? My colleague @joyeecheung has lots of details in this talk from NodeConf EU:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GrgMT5zMgF4

@jaffathecake @surma This distinction about what web components are good at or designed for definitely was a tension all along. In early 2014 we had the first Extensible Web Summit in San Francisco, it was well attended and i recall breakouts dominated by this. People wanting to compose right up to <my-app> and people saying that's not a goal or even a good idea.. On lists too, it goes back before that

It's that time of year when I look at how @igalia is stacking up in open source contributions... If it was a Friends episode it would be "The One with the Charts"https://bkardell.com/blog/2024-Midseason.html

Great statement at #blinkon by @cdub "Chrome is the 4th browser I've worked on. They've all had majority market share. 2 of them don't even exist anymore. The web platform remains. It outlives browsers, engines, companies even."

Lots of Pittsburgh looked like a post apocalyptic movie last night after the storm. Where i am we have no power or cell service still and i heard someone say it might take days yet to get everything back to normal.

Disappointed to find that a Wikipedia page about an old project i did is gone. I made a bunch of decisions years ago about not keeping the site or domain or etc alive because i figured the Wikipedia article would always be there. Guess not.
