I've read somewhere that the reason why US spelling differs from British spelling is that newspapers were paying by the letters printed, so to reduce cost, they would start omitting letters (colour -> color)Is this true?

It's disheartening to see that by default, the @Mastodon iPhone app suggests to join mastodon social instead of a dropdown of various servers. This is not empowering the Fediverse but rather gives power to a single instance. Please change this!!
